Audi quattro Ski Cup
Today, I’m a World Cup!
As the diamond of the Alps, Obergurgl-Hochgurgl regularly makes the winter dreams of countless skiing fans come true. One of the most popular dreams of amateur skiers? Just once to take part in a race at premier league level like Marcel Hirscher and other famous names, to the roar of the crowd and under professional World Cup conditions. And that dream came true!
As the lead sponsor of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup, Audi quattro brought the exciting racing atmosphere of the World Cup for amateur skiers to Obergurgl. Allowing the many participants of the Audi quattro Ski Cup to realize their dream of professional racing at the beginning of December 2016. In the Original Audi FIS Ski World Cup start house, they felt their heart rate rise before battling on the professionally prepared piste for each hundredth of a second a few moments later. And every single one of those hundredths mattered because the time measurement was as technically exacting as all the equipment. Former skiing greats – such as Hans Knauss – supported the leisure racers as mentors and assisted their analysis of the route with helpful tips from when they used to be professional skiers. Among the women, Monika Hörhager and Franziska Steinel qualified for the world final in Italy at the end of March 2017. Among the men, Alfred Grüner and Stephan Winkler secured the coveted podium position in their category at the qualifying race in Obergurgl.
The Obergurgl Lift Company has its fingers crossed for the overall victory and is looking forward with Audi to further exclusive racing experiences. Full information on the Audi quattro Ski Cup at www.quattro.at/skicup
